Santas coming to town...

October 1st, 2007 at 09:01 pm

Christmas is coming and I'm already being asked from various family members what they should get for our kids (DS1 is 4 and DS2 will be 3 soon). This normally wouldn't be that big a deal, but just this past weekend DH and I spent a lot of time culling the mountains of toys and attempting a reorganization. I'm convinced these things multiply secretly at night. Fortunately, most to all these toys were free.

I'm also worried about finding that line between allowing my kids to have toys and spoiling them. What I would really like is for relatives to buy savings bonds, but I'm not sure that will happen. I've suggested books, but other than that I can't think of much.

DH and I don't buy much for Christmas or birthdays because we know they get so much from relatives.

Any ideas for indoor clothes drying? I've read about indoor retractable clothelines, but how could that possibly accomodate an entire load of laundry??

i bought one through IKEA. it is simple to put up and if i hang clothes correcctly it holds an entire set of sheets (four pillow cases and two queen sheets) plus 1.5 loads of other clothes. i paid 16 and it was teh best thing ever! It's called the frost. Even in the wonter i can put a load on it and it dries (and we only heat the bed rooms) before the next morning. I love this rack. in the summer things dry so quickly because there is so much space you don't have to double up. I love this rack. I think it was worth the price considering the other two i bought lasted less than a year. i have had this one two years and it dries 5 loads a week. Look it up. And it folds up pretty small.)

On the Ikea website it looks so small, but you say it can dry an entire load? It says it is a floor drying rack for $16.99...is that the same one you have?

I think the savings bonds are such a great idea!

yep. that is the one i have. you will become very adept at hanging laundry so that it will dry. If there is an ikea near you, visit it and they will set it up for you.
